Go to Grow!

By Jasmine Kelly

For a lot of people, 2020 was a year of reflection. It was a year that forced everyone to be still and contemplate their next move. What seemed like a blink of an eye, and now we are in 2021—entering the second quarter of this new year, to be exact. I don’t know about you, but I have done enough thinking; 2021 is my year to grow. It is my year to put all of my thoughts into action. However, I do not think growth is possible without some form of action. You have to GO.

As I write this to you, please understand that I am speaking for myself as well, sis. Listen, if no one else has told you, I am telling you. Get up, get out and get something! You will not get the change you want, doing what you have always done. I am not saying go forward with reckless abandon (unless that is your style). What I am saying is that you must get started. Small steps matter; setbacks will happen but keep moving.

I honestly want you to stop playing small and if you are not playing small, level up even more. Think about those goals that you have in mind. What about that thing that you have been pondering about doing? Yes, that. Get started on it. And yes, I know it’s hard but doesn’t worry about how you look doing it. Even more so, don’t worry about the spectators on the sideline when you in the field, baby.

As Henry David Thoreau stated, “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.” And I am saying, “Go!”
