Did You Ever Imagine…

By Chanel Davis

If any of us ever questioned what a curveball looked like before this year, we definitely got our answer! I came into 2020 full of hope and goals like many others. I had written down a list of things of all I wished to accomplish by the conclusion of the year.

In March, when the state I reside in went into stay-at-home order to quarantine, I could easily adjust to being home all day for months at a time because I am a homebody. It did not start to settle in until about four months in when I could not see my family and friends in person out of fear of keeping myself and them safe.

However, I did enjoy the opportunity to rest and recharge my mind and spirit. I was so sure that I would get all those goals I had on my New Year list completed…the opposite happened. I did not complete nearly half of that list. I was initially hard on myself for not being disciplined to complete my tasks. But as I would sit and have my time with God, I would reflect praise and give thanks to so many things I previously had taken for granted. I was made aware in my spirit that this world needed a reset—especially God’s children. I was able to rest. I did not realize how exhausted I was at 30 years old in balancing my career and finances. I was able to stop and enjoy peace. I was able to realign my soul with Christ. I did not ever imagine that the year would take a turn as it did in the first quarter of 2020, but I am grateful that God got my undivided attention again.

So if you did not imagine a year like this one and have often been upset at what you did not do what you feel would measure to your means of productivity, I want you to pause and realign your soul into enjoying the opportunities that this year’s leisure time has given you. Everything happened as God intended. Including your life and the direction, it is currently heading in. So be glad in it and rejoice for health, peace, joy, and an abundance more of it to come!
