Dear Future Husband,

By Chanel Davis

Hi babe, bae, Husbae, and best friend! I hope you are doing well. I know that you are great, but I just wanted to check in. Even though you do not know me yet, I thought that I would write you a letter.

I can imagine now you are currently handling a lot. Juggling work, personal life and creating time to spend with family and friends all while keep your faith during this time. I am doing the exact same. With all that is going on in the world, I am just trying to keep my head above the water while I be the best version of me, I can be. I am keeping my joy by reminding myself of the little things.

I often wonder how well you are adjusting and what preparation work God is doing in both of us. You could be in a relationship currently that may not feel like the right fit. It is ok. I probably just texted someone that I did not even want to entertain. You probably even just laughed at one of her jokes and wished she were funnier. But do not fret, I have years of jokes up my sleeve.

I pray your spirit is being filled with compassion. Compassion that works well with patience. It will be needed when I get frustrated at times and may be feeling down. Whether it be through achieving my goals or feeling like I could have done more. I hope you can be uplifting and encouraging through the times when I can not clearly see my potential. Using your compassion to inspire and remind me that even my shortcomings are blessings. Even when I do a little too much shopping, you will be slow to anger.

When I am in a silly mood, I hope you can take a joke. I am the ultimate jokester. I will be the Gina to your Martin. I use humor to connect. Even when you may not feel like dealing with the troubles of the world. I vow to be by your side laughing with you through the easy and hard times. Keeping the smile, I fell in love with as a reminder to you that we will through anything life throws at us.

Your loyalty will be unmatched in protection of your integrity and values. As a man who puts God first in every decision you make, you know the best position to be in any situation is in the position of prayer. Putting Christ as the leader of our home, family, finances, and union will be the stronghold and foundation of what will keep us grounded. I will be right by your side in prayer. Tears, snot, and all. Your love for God is my biggest attraction to you.

I admire your will to lead. To be one who understands the importance of a strong male presence. One who is a protector of all he loves. Except when we are engaging in any kind of competitive activity. Just be ready to lose fair and square as I will not quit until I am crowned. But I will not shame you too much as you can have all the kisses your lips and face can hold after any defeat.

With my passion to mentor and inspire the youth, I know you will be a great partner in doing the same. I take seriously being able to pay it forward. I can only imagine what we will achieve together to be of service to mankind all while being pleasing to God.

I look forward to what our future holds and our union. I can only imagine the extent of the greatness we will conquer together. Keep your head up in this cold world of dating. I am on the way and our paths will cross soon enough. We just have a little more work to do as God is preparing us for one another.

In the meantime, stay healthy and prayed up. Keep your head up when you face the adversity and let no one steal your joy. Besides, your smile can light up any room.

Until We Meet,

Your Future Wife.

P.S – Please work on your spades game. I cannot have you crossing me on the boards and embarrassing us at the family reunions. We are in it to win it!
