What’s Poppin in these Streets?

By: Jasmine Kelly

I am no Oprah, but I do think that you need to know some of the things that I am feeling right now so you can be put on too. You’re welcome.

YouTube.  I cannot get enough of the YouTuber, “From Head to Curve.” I just discovered her literally like last week, Ashley is her name and her channel consists of plus size fashion hauls, hair tutorials, travel vlogs and much more. She is an accountant out of Houston, Texas; thus, in addition to cool videos she offers cool financial advice. What are you waiting for? Check her out!

Body Products. I have always loved The Body Shop, but I am really loving their Mango Body Butter. I have always been a Satsuma kind of chick, but the Mango Body Butter is just as amazing. I have a small one I keep in my purse and a larger size container for at home. The Mango Body Butter is great for moisturizing when you hop out of the shower because it keeps your skin really smooth and with the sweet smell, you won’t need to wear perfume.

Wine. Pay attention because this is a major key (DJ Khaled voice) if you have not drunk wine before and you do not know where to start, start with Purple Toad Winery. I absolutely LOVE their Lauren’s Blackberry and Allen’s Blueberry. They have sweet, semi-sweet and dry wines. I particularly like them for their sweet wines. Unfortunately, this wine is only sold in Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee, and Illinois. No worries though, I live in Atlanta and I order it, you should too.

Retail. I know this may strike some nerves because I remember when we (Black people) were mad at H&M but I have resolved my issue and I shop here throughout the year (had to get that off). I am in the process of getting my spring wardrobe together and H&M is that girl baby! I love pieces that can double for work and play. I am fond of their dresses and accessories. If you don’t find what you like in-store keep in mind there are more sizes and variety online.

Television. Yall! You need to watch Cherish the Day! I am literally screaming this. The show on the Oprah Winfrey Network, centers on the love story between Gently James (Xosha Roquemore) and Evan Fisher (Alano Miller). The show is created by Ava DuVernay and filmed in Los Angeles. The show gives me Insecure/Love Jones vibes in that it shows the black LA experience and a real-life courtship. No lie, I was captivated from the very first episode and I look forward to watching every Tuesday.

Music. It has been a minute since they have come out with something new but yall, (serious face) Pretty Rick is back! If you don’t do nothing else this week, you have to listen to their new single Body. When I say I have had this song on repeat DAILY, sis.. Get into it,
