Between Niecy Nash and John Gray, love and what it means has been the hot topic of conversation. Nicey Nash recently married a woman and John Gray keeps cheating on his. Wife, that is. Nonetheless, I will always believe that love is an action word.
At the end of the day, love is what you make it and even more so, it is yours. Thus, you can do what you want with it. You must do something though. Nicey followed her heart despite society’s conventions for Black women in love. I’m proud of her for that. She moved.
A complete polar example is John Gray. He is a pastor (was in my opinion). Yes, he is allegedly a man of the cloth and we all have our transgressions. However, I will always believe that in love you have a choice. You can choose to treat someone right or not. Considering that Gray’s recent transgressions against his wife. His choice in love is obvious.
But of course we know that love is more than interpersonal. It’s also intrapersonal. Yes, the choices you make in love towards yourself matter. How you communicate, touch and appreciate you matters. For that reason, I hope you are giving yourself plenty of affection and ACTING in love and light.
